Dead horses, et al

From: rscarpen (RiskyNil@pocketmail.com) | Date: 2003-12-03 17:44:41 UTC
You know.... I don't get this not beating a dead horse thing. Why
does anyone care? The horse is dead--it surely isn't concerned about
getting beat up. You can't exactly accuse the beater of animal
cruelty--the horse is already dead!

I say, if you want to beat a dead horse, go for it! =)

Ryan,

Humerous post, and to ward off any potential misunderstanding, I'll
add: please take this reply as being made in the same manner.

I believe that the horse itself is not the issue.

Rather, the action of beating a dead horse demonstrate a lack of
intelligence of the one engaged in the beating. ie: individual is an
idiot; as of course, no matter how much you beat a dead animal, it
is not going to get up and continue to take you on your way.

Enjoy!

Oh, I didn't realize that was the point of beating a dead horse. I
thought it was just someone's twisted idea of fun, and hey, if it
don't hurt anyone, I say, let 'em go at it! =)

That is great Ryan -- I'm all for letting you beat whatever you
want....

Just not where we all have to watch.

I bid you well,

Oh, yeah.... you're going down. ;o)

I only regret that I can't think of a better comeback than yours. =)

No, no, no! No one is expecting the horse to get up. That's how you
tenderize the meat! :D Silly person, you obviously know nothing about
good Pirate cooking! :D

Is it just horses or are we also not supposed to beat other dead
animals? Am I allowed to beat a scorpion but not a wombat? Is
there a size limit?

And by the way, please let me know if you get thrown off of this
site for being sarcastic. I'm in deep, deep trouble if that is the
case!

Perhaps the horse isn't dead at all, but just shagged out after a
long squawk.

You are definitely allowed to beat scorpions, because insects and
arachnids are going to inherit the earth, and it's our responsibility
to kill as many as possible in order to stave off their conquest.
